Miami Carnival: An explosion of Caribbean Culture and Pageantry


Miami Carnival, the ultimate cultural experience that combines the various elements of Carnival with the beauty of Miami over Columbus Day Weekend in October. The annual event features four signature events, Junior Carnival, Panorama, J’ouvert and a costumed Parade & Concert and brings visitors and participants from across the globe, all who come to celebrate Caribbean culture.

Steel Bands add a ear-pleasing vibe to the weekend

The Miami Carnival Day is Hosted and Presented by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Miami Carnival is also made possible "With the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners."


The Miami Carnival Lends a Cultural Authenticity to the Arts And Culture Landscape. That is Undeniable. Over 30,000 Miami Carnival Masqueraders are set to compete for prizes and Miami Carnival Band of the Year bragging rights.


The 38th Annual Miami Carnival Parade of Bands and Concert on Sunday, October 9, from 11 am to 11 pm, at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition. It will feature elaborate and vibrant costumes, as well as an all-star mega Soca Concert, highlighting the rich Caribbean tradition of culture, pageantry, and diversity. Miami is the perfect venue for such an explosive spectacle. The South Florida region has one of he most robust populations of Caribbean residents in the United States and it is as close as it gets to the Caribbean.

In South Florida, Miami Carnival celebrations begin the week before Columbus Day in October.

This year it kicks off with the Junior Carnival Competition on Saturday, October 1st, followed by the Steelband “Panorama” competition on Friday, October 7th.

J’ Ouvert Mas is held early on Saturday morning, October 8th and the carnival celebrations peak with the Kings, Queens and Individual Shows and Competitions and the grand finale in the Mas Band Parade and Concert on Carnival Sunday, October 9th.
